Meg:  Owner / Master Stylist

Meg has been a hair stylist for eight years.  After graduating from cosmetology and esthetics school at Idaho State University, she worked at the trendy Body Essence Salon and Spa, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where she further developed hair styling and coloring techniques.  In 2002, Meg relocated to the East Coast, settling in Richmond, Virginia, where she worked at Nesbit Salon and Spa, The Bouffant Palace (Aveda Concept Salon), and Salon Del Sol (Aveda Lifestyle Salon).  Her passion for continuing education was evident as she pursued many courses in hair design and color techniques with Aveda and Bumble and Bumble.  While in Richmond, Meg also completed training as a massage therapist, to gain a more thorough knowledge of the spa industry.

In 2007, Meg, with her husband and daughter, relocated to Anchorage.  After years of dreaming, planning and saving, the pieces finally came together as Meg Allen Salon and Spa took form.  On April 2, 2008 Meg Allen Salon opened for business, and the salon is quickly building a talented staff, loyal clientele and outstanding reputation for high fashion, unique décor, and beautiful results.

In addition to her background in the salon and spa industry, Meg is owner and designer of the successful Meg Allen jewelry line.  Her work is carried in several chic fashion boutiques in Richmond, Virginia and Park City, Utah.  In 2006 her jewelry line was featured at the upscale Nicole Miller retail stores in Richmond, Virginia and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Since arriving in Anchorage, she has acquired three new accounts (Blush Boutique, Plain Jane Consignment, and Modern Dwellers Chocolate Lounge).

Meg is dedicated to the beauty and fashion industry, and loves making people beautiful.  She looks forward to meeting you and making your beauty and fashion dreams come true!

Jenn: Senior Stylist

Jenn, senior stylist, is originally from Michigan where she attended the Douglas J. Aveda Institute located in Ann Arbor.  She had always loved getting her hair done while growing up and decided to take the plunge into the beauty world after high school.  “I was drawn to the creative aspect of it,” Jenn states, “and it looked fun.” What first drew her to the industry, creativity, is still what she loves doing, creative color.    Her continuing education repertoire includes a Men’s cutting class, Front line training, and 2007 Master Jam in Victoria, just to name a few.

One piece of Beauty Advice you’d give to everyone who sits in your chair:  Deep condition your hair and own a good Flat Iron or Diffuser.”

Ashley: Junior Stylist

Ashley, junior stylist, graduated from the Gary Manuel Aveda Institute in Seattle in 2005. A California raised girl, she moved to Alaska for love.  Ashley states it best in her own words why she joined the beauty industry; “I wanted to be the one making people feel good and beautiful about themselves.” Ashley continues saying, “There’s nothing like a great bob, and a splash of blonde can do a world of difference.” Ashley has taken numerous continuing education classes and hopes one day to get her instructors license.

One piece of Beauty Advice you’d give to everyone who sits in your chair:  “The best thing you can give yourself is a good blowout.”

If you didn’t have this in your life, you’d be completely lost… “Morning cup of coffee and my boyfriend George.”

Her bubbly, relaxed personality has the ability to make clients feel extremely comfortable and at peace. Although she excels in facials and waxing, she loves makeup, “Makeup allows me to be very artistic, and I love that,” states Georgia.

One piece of Beauty Advice you’d give to everyone who sits in your chair:  “Don’t be afraid to speak up and tell your stylist exactly what you like or dislike about what she is doing. Also, if you have the correct haircut for your hair you shouldn’t have to work hard at styling it.”
